the beginning of Something Golden

Welcome, Friend

I’m Kristin ⎯ but the people I love most call me Kris. I wear a lot of hats, and honestly feel like I’ve lived 5 different lives sometimes. I’m a wife, mom of two, Cosmetologist, Worship Pastor, and a Counselor-in-training. Underneath all of those roles, I’m learning to discover the gold in myself too ⎯ showing up, uncovering what’s been tucked deep in my heart, and saying “yes” to dreams I once set aside. For years, my counseling degree sat on the shelf, waiting for the right season. Now, years later, I’m picking it back up with fresh courage.

A big part of my “why” is helping my son, who is Neurodivergent and the bravest boy I’ve ever known. Learning how to support him, to celebrate his victories, and to walk him through the ups and downs of life has opened my eyes in new ways. It’s made me even more compassionate about listening, encouraging, and reminding people that they are not alone in their journey.

I’ve witnessed this first hand in my chair as a Cosmetologist. I’ve had the honor to be apart of people’s joyful moments like weddings and first haircuts, and also conversations of heartbreak and loss.

I’ve dreamed of creating a space like this for a while. A place where stories and honest conversations can live side by side. The name Where the Gold Lives came from a deep belief that I hold: that there is gold in every person, in every season, and even in the messy, ordinary days that don’t feel too shiny. Sometimes it’s easy to see and sometimes it takes a little digging to discover.

Here, you can expect reflections, stories, and encouragement. I’ll share what I’m learning along the way in my Counseling journey. I’ll share messy moments and magical ones. You’ll find honest conversations, and hopefully you’ll find that you aren’t alone in life. We are all on a journey and it looks so different for each of us. Every story matters. Every journey is sacred, and every person carries gold. Let’s uncover it, celebrate it, and walk this journey side by side.

Welcome to Where the Gold lives...
